Top 10 reasons TO wear the uniform

OK so in follow-up to the last post - the top ten reasons we WANT to wear the uniform:
1. superior treatment at airport security! ;-)
2. authority of the movement (125 years plus of reputation on you in suede)
3. cleans you up well! (hattip:my mom)
4. epaulets are cool.
5. saves a lot of time on choosing an outfit.
6. public sign of covenant (I've made a promise with God)
7. solidarity with soldiers around the world
8. it's still better than camel hair (hattip: john the baptist)
9. who doesn't want a supersuit you can wear at night and fight injustice? (hattip:dh)
and the top reason we WANT to wear uniform
10. access - people's houses/jailcells/alley's/dignitaries/boardrooms/schools/cities/towns/kings/queens and paupers.... people's hearts... all for Jesus - it begs us to ask this question:
Why not wear it more?

peace out.

I no longer wear the uniform - I won't bore you with the reasons - but if you do, wear it for Jesus and for Him alone - he'll not only bless you for doing so, but bless others through you also.

Mostly im commenting cause im trying 2 get ppl 2 read my blogs, see if just started blogging, so you can have a read if you want! as for the uniform i chose not 2 wear it to church (personal choice) but on the front lines serving then why not! as long as our heart is to see souls saved, for that is why we exist!!

hmmm. Interesting how the top 10 reasons not to wear uniform seem so trivial when put against the many pros of uniform-wearing in your second blog!;-)

I've been living and ministering in a rough housing estate for five years and most people below the age of 40 have no idea about the sally army so that kind of cancels out #2.

Epaulets in my opinion are cool...on pilots(#4)!

#5- it may save time choosing an outfit but a t-shirt and jeans are so much more comfortable, practical and don't necessarily need ironed!

#6- that's assuming anyone outside the army has any idea whatsoever that the uniform represents a covenant at all.

#8- you obviously haven't experienced camel hair- it's very comfy!:-)

#10- access- it closes doors in our estate. People feel we're like the police and relate it to negative authority figures and judgementalism. They see us representing something institutional, impersonal and out of touch. One guy from our corps/ church who got saved, came off drugs, drink and is now a real holy man of God told us that he'd have ran a mile if he walked into our church and saw a bunch of military uniforms. Thank goodness he didn't. First impressions last and we may not have had another opportunity with him.

I think I'd definitely agree with #1 and #3.

#7- most everyday ordinary soldiers will never have the opportunity to meet soldiers from other parts of the world.

I like what Paul tells the church in Colossians to wear (13:12-14)

'So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.'

Wearing this kind of Christ-like uniform really turns the world on its head. It's a lot harder to wear this one than a pair of navy trousers and a white shirt.

This is what brings about radical transformation in our lives, our corps and our communities.

That's my uniform.

Isn't the official branding of the Army a red shield? How come this isn't on the official uniform?

The writer of armybarmyremix.blogspot.com has written a superior article. I got your point and there is nothing to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not disagree with: Everyone always remembers the day a dog ran into your school. I will be back.
