I fought the law and the law won.

I haven't said much about accountability these days (since my running blog about the Nike lounge)... but this month my 30 day experiment is to do something new everyday... now, being in a new country, new place, new neighbourhood and new friends - this shouldn't be too difficult.. but it is fun to notice all the newness.
I had a prophetic word for 614 Vancouver when I left... it was a season of 'new things' that they were to embrace... seems the word is as true for me as for them.
God is faithful.
And on the subject of new and accountable - the new car I drive here (on the new side of the road) beeps when you speed. I kid you not. How do I know? enough said. Although I like accountability, this is a pain - I'm assuming if I'm ever nailed for speeding it will be difficult to fight the law when your car alerts you that you're driving too fast... wow.
Although this feature reminds me of the Holy Spirit somewhat - I'm getting the manual to figure our how to turn it off (another new thing!). Here's to new things.

You know how your car beeps!
I know someone who's car instead of the beep plays "When the roll is called up yonder".
How cool is that????

I too don't like being held accountable so turned off my beeper, I could turn off your beeper too but policy states that until you have been driving in our country for 12 months this is not permissible sorry:(

policy schmolicy... I'd like a beep that rings out, 'born to be wild' - Rowen can you hook me up?

You've got to be kidding! I thought the speed limit was a suggestion? jk I'd be more concerned about remembering to drive on the opposite side of the road!

So does it beep at the actual speed limit? Or more like the "oh man, I could get a really big ticket if I get pulled over now" speed limit? Because I personally would find the latter more useful.

I don't know what car you have but I remember dads car use to do the same thing, but you could set the speed on his, so if you were in a 60.....your suppose to set it at 60 but you know, its kinda like a round about thingy but it depends on the car. Kinda creepy I reckon

ok... new thing for today - I turned off the car beep speed system.. yes all by myself (no thanks to Collo!) :-)
it still tells you in script that you are speeding (I'm guessing of course) but it doesn't beep... the seatbelt though - another whole conversation....

Rowan says,
Born to be wild? Done! Global invasion and speed limits? I don't know... there's accountability and then there's the murmurers distracting you from kingdom building work... the beep goes in the latter category...

Danielle,

This beeping thing is a very GOOD thing for you.

You could also install a beepy thing to warn you when you're about to get a parking ticket.
